Spain is Elegant Resorts’ best-selling destination for Easter 2024 for a second year running, it has claimed, with  demand surging for the Canary Islands following one of the UK’s wettest winters on record.

Booking data from the luxury operator revealed that 75% of bookings to Spain were for the Canary Islands.

Barbados, the United Arab Emirates and the Maldives have also retained their positions in the list of most popular choices for a sunny Easter break.

Thailand completes the top five, nudging out the US - last year’s fifth most-favoured destination.

Elegant Resorts said the number of travellers booking a sunny Easter break had increased by 19% compared to last year.

The operator also revealed that bookings for the upcoming summer season are so far on par with 2023.

Data shows that Greece is gaining more popularity, with a 24% increase in summer bookings to the country compared to last year. The most popular destinations are Corfu, Crete, Kos and the Peloponnese.

Italy, Spain and Portugal remain popular, particularly with families. The US also made the list, replacing last year’s fifth-favourite, Barbados.
