Qatar drops quarantine rule for vaccinated British travellers

Vaccinated British travellers to Qatar no longer have to quarantine on arrival after the UK was removed from the Gulf state’s red travel list.

The UK was placed on Qatar’s high risk category for travel last November along with 20 other countries amid a surge in cases of Covid-19.

Arrivals from only nine countries continue to be subject to isolation when visiting the country following the change made on Monday night.

However, all visitors from the UK must submit a negative pre-travel PCR lab result valid within 48 hours from departure and complete an online pre-travel registration at least three days before arrival.

Qatar Tourism said: “Although uploading the PCR test result is not mandatory during the electronic pre-registration process, travellers who are required to have pre-travel PCR test must present the original copy of the PCR test result to the airline on which they are flying, to allow them to board the plane.”

Passengers must also sign a public health ministry undertaking and acknowledgement form before arriving in Qatar.

Travellers are obliged to download the official ehteraz contact tracing app operated by the Qatar Ministry of Public Health.

• Elsewhere, Oman has also started to ease its Covid travel rules for international travellers.

Arrivals no longer need to pre-register via the Ministry of Health online form.

Travellers over the age of 18 must present a vaccination certificate with a QR code indicating that they have received at least two doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccine.

They must show a negative Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival or within 24 hours after arrival, including proof of a health insurance covering for the disease.
