New Silversea ship to operate Grand Voyage in 2024

Silversea Cruises’ soon-to-launch Silver Nova will operate a 71-day Grand Voyage to Central and South America in 2024.

The sailing is due to depart on January 4 and will call into 18 countries before arriving into Fort Lauderdale, in the US, on March 15, 2024. Prices, with round-trip business class flights, start from £41,900.

Ports of call include Lima, Peru; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; and an extended stay in Rio de Janeiro. Ilhabela in Brazil is a maiden call for the line.

Passengers can experience a traditional folkloric show along the Panama Canal, a heritage tour of Callao Monumental, where multiple public art pieces are located; and Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival during the sailing.

Chief commercial officer Barbara Muckermann said: “With the inclusion of business-class air, guests travelling on the South America Grand Voyage 2024, and on all future Grand Voyages with Silversea, will journey in comfort.”

The 728-passenger Silver Nova is due to launch next summer and will operate its maiden voyage from Southampton on July 15, 2023.

The vessel will use a combination of fuel cells and batteries in port, meaning no emissions will be produced when it is docked.

Outside port, Nova will be powered by liquefied natural gas. Its debut programme went on sale last month.
