Windstar Cruises’ revamped Star-Plus class fleet is back in the water after Star Pride resumed operations today (June 9) with a sold-out voyage from Piraeus, Greece.

All three Star-Plus class yachts – Star Pride, Star Legend and Star Breeze – underwent “major transformations” and were lengthened at a Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.

The yachts’ capacity increased from 212 to 312 passengers, new suites were added and outdoor and indoor spaces were expanded.

Windstar said the yachts are more environmentally friendly with new efficient engines and advanced waste-water treatment systems.

Star Breeze was the first to come back into service in June last year, before Star Legend return in September.

Star Pride will operate an eight-day voyage to Barcelona, calling at ports such as Corfu, Messina, Trapani and Cagliari during its comeback sailing.

Windstar president Christopher Prelog said: “To have completed this project amid a global pandemic is nothing short of amazing.

“We’re grateful to our ownership and to our partners for sticking with it and to our customers for their excitement and support of these new products.”

He added: “We are seeing our highest guest satisfaction surveys on the new Star Class yachts, with the highest Net Promoter Scores in our brand’s history. Our guests and travel advisors really love the product we created on Star Class.”

Windstar has three Wind-class sailing vessels – Wind Star, Wind Surf and Wind Spirit – and Star-Plus class ships – Star Breeze, Star Pride and Star Legend – in its fleet.
