Explora Journeys shares details about suites on upcoming ship

Explora Journeys has unveiled details about the design of its Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences onboard Explora I, which will set sail this July.

The luxury line from MSC Cruises said the new ‘Homes at Sea’ suite categories were among the largest in the industry.

Ocean Penthouses span four categories and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, large terraces, private dining areas for four people and large seating areas.

Each category offers a walk-in wardrobe with a seated vanity area and Dyson hairdryer, heated floors in bathrooms, personal binoculars, wireless bed-side charging, a personal mini-bar replenished according to guests’ preferences, an espresso machine and a complimentary personal refillable water bottle for each guest.

Ocean Residences also comprise four categories – Cocoon, Cove, Retreat and Serenity. Cocoon and Serenity Residences feature wraparound terraces, while Cocoon, Serenity and Retreat Residences offer a separate bathtub and walk-in shower.

All Ocean Residences offer separate living, dining and sleeping areas, including panoramic ocean-front terraces with a private outdoor whirlpool, dining table and sun loungers. Ocean Residence guests are also served by a dedicated team of Residence Hosts providing bespoke butler service 24 hours a day.

Ocean Penthouses will be equipped with Technogym kit, while Ocean Residences will have an additional Technogym Bench available for guests. Each suite will also feature a master artwork in its living room along with additional complementary pieces.

Head of product Jason Gelineau said: “Environmental respect and sustainability have been key in design choices, ensuring a balance between the tactile and visual experience of every material used.

“Eco-friendly details such as refillable bathroom amenities have also been weaved into the suite offering and where feasible, we are sourcing sustainable products including B Corp-certified items. We will also have a no single-use plastic policy on board.”

Explora I features a total of 461 ocean-front cabins. Explora Journeys shared details of its entry-level Ocean Suites last year

The vessel is one of six ships planned to launch under the new luxury line. Its maiden journey will depart Southampton on July 17.
