Bulgari’s second property in Italy to open in June

Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has confirmed its upcoming property in Rome will open on June 9.

The property marks the ninth hotel in the brand’s portfolio and its second in Italy, joining sister hotel Bulgari Hotel Milano.

Bulgari Hotel Roma is located in Piazza Augusto Imperatore in the Campo Marzio neighbourhood, close to Via del Corso and Via del Babuino, the Spanish steps, and the Bulgari flagship store on Via Condotti.

The hotel occupies a restored 1930s rationalist building, which sits directly in front of the Mausoleum of Emperor Augustus, a large tomb built by the Roman Emperor Augustus in 28 BC.

The property has been restored to retain original details, with new additions including hand-made mosaic rosettes in bathrooms, made-to-measure tapestries and Murano crystals and lamps.

Bulgari Hotel Roma features 114 rooms and suites decorated in four different colour palettes of white, yellow, red and green.

The hotel’s top accommodation, the Bulgari Suite, features a large master bedroom with a walk-in closet, steam shower and white-marble bathtub; a living space; and a dining room, with famous pieces of furniture from Antonio Citterio’s Flexform and Maxalto collections and custom tapestries by Venetian textile manufacturer Rubelli.

Six food and beverage outlets curated by chef Niko Romito include Italian signature restaurant Il Ristorante – Niko Romito; The Bulgari Bar; relaxed daytime eatery II Caffe; afternoon tea and aperitif venue the Lobby Lounge; and patisserie Bulgari Dolci.

The hotel also features a rooftop terrace, La Terrazza, which emulates a typical Roman terrace and features cabanas, lounge areas and a menu of snacks and light dishes.

Elsewhere, The Bulgari Spa was designed to recreate the atmosphere of the ancient Roman baths, with marble columns, stained glass windows and mosaic patterns inspired by the historic Terme de Caracalla Baths. The space features nine treatments rooms, a 25-metre pool, a vitality pool and an adjacent fitness centre.

Bulgari Hotel Roma will also offer a Reading Room containing a collection of precious books dedicated to Roman art, design, history and architecture. The room will be available to hotel guests and the public by appointment.

“The opening of Bulgari Hotel Roma is a real milestone for Bulgari as it will be finally possible to welcome our guests in the Maison’s hometown, the city which has been a source of inspiration for all our magnificent jewellery creations since the Brand foundation,” said chief executive Jean-Christophe Babin.

“The Bulgari Hotel Roma is a real ‘temple’ of luxury hospitality embodying all the Brand values such as exceptional craftsmanship, precious materials, Italian contemporary yet timeless design, excellence, and glamour. We are thrilled to open such an amazing property and we envision the Bulgari Hotel Roma to shine as the ultimate luxury experience crafted by the Roman Jeweller of Hospitality in the Eternal City.”

The opening of Bulgari Hotel Roma follows the recent opening of Bulgari Hotel Tokyo on April 4.

The next Bulgari openings will be in the Maldives and Miami Beach in 2025 and Los Angeles in 2026. The wider portfolio includes properties in London, Paris, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai and Bali.
