Belmond plots third property in Mexico for 2025

Belmond has unveiled plans to open a property in Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit in 2025, bolstering its portfolio in the destination.

The luxury hotel brand has entered into a management agreement with Cora Pacific Development, led by entrepreneur duo Barbara Machen and Rosetta Getty.

Belmond said Milaroca, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Nayarit would be “consciously and sensitively built from the ground up”.

A statement from the brand said the signing of the agreement to manage Milaroca “further strengthens” its commitment to Mexico.

Milaroca will join two other Belmond properties in the destination: Casa de Sierra Nevada, a former convent built in the 16th century and located in the city of San Miguel de Allende, and Maroma in Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula, which will reopen in August following a complete renovation.

Belmond president and chief executive Roland Vos said: "We have the incredible opportunity to craft a legend of the future with the best partners we could have asked for.

"With utmost respect to Riviera Nayarit's multicultural history, abundant nature and the region's carefree spirit, Milaroca will encapsulate the essence of contemporary lifestyle, creating a destination tor today's thriving creative community - a new legendary scene

where new traditions are made, and long-lived rituals are celebrated."

Milaroca will be located in a 105-acre estate surrounded by mountainous jungle and a one-mile stretch of beach. The property will be a 40-minute drive from Puerto Vallarta International Airport.

Belmond said the property would adopt “low-density and non-invasive building practices”.

Each of the 57 guest pavilions - including junior suites, one-bedroom suites, jungle suites and 12 three-bedroom villas – will feature contemporary, custom-made furniture and crafted objects from local artisans and artists. Many suites will also offer private plunge pools.

A collection of 27 private villas serviced by Belmond will be available to purchase “by invitation only”.

Elsewhere, there will be six dining venues with ingredients supplied by an on-site organic farm, a wellness centre, four outdoor swimming pools and a curated retail offering.
