Belmond’s Mexico hotel to undergo extensive renovation

Belmond’s beach retreat in Mexico is to undergo an extensive renovation and redesign this year.

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya will reopen on May 25, 2023.

The renovation, led by British designer Tara Bernerd, will see the property be “completely reimagined” while honouring Mexican artisan traditions, authentic craftsmanship, and local materials throughout the interiors, according to the brand.

The redesigned property will feature an indoor-outdoor spa and four dining destinations celebrating Mexico’s regional cuisine.

Located amid 200 acres of topical jungle along Mexico’s Caribbean coast, the property is home to 72 rooms, suites and villas and offers access to the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere.
