Aurora Expeditions founder to join ex-Scotland departure

Adventurer Greg Mortimer – the founder of Aurora Expeditions – will be an expedition leader on his namesake vessel Greg Mortimer next year.

The 126-passenger ship (pictured) will operate a 15-day sailing from Aberdeen, Scotland, to Longyearbyen, Norway, in May 2023.

Prices for The Founder’s Voyage visiting the Orkney and Shetland Islands start from £8,635.

The price includes accommodation, meals, drinks, shore excursions, lectures, port charges, fees, gratuities, Wi-Fi and Zodiac cruises.

Mortimer said: “I can’t wait to bathe in that exquisite Arctic light once again. It’s been a while. This time it will be even more surreal, being on a ship with my own name on it.”

Chief executive Michael Heath said Mortimer was “an inspiration to all who travel with him”.

“His exploring and guiding expertise, gleaned over three decades, will be an enlightening experience and highlight many a little-known treasure, inlet, and wildlife experience for his fellow expeditioners,” he added.
