Starlink internet capability added to Star Clippers fleet

Improved online connectivity is being pledged with the installation of Starlink internet capability of all three ships in the Star Clippers fleet.

The tall ship cruise line has become the latest to install Elon Musk’s SpaceX Low Earth Orbit satellite technology.

This enables passengers and crew to experience a faster and more reliable wi-fi connections while on board.

The service on Royal Clipper, Star Clipper and Star Flyer comes ahead of the peak summers sailing season.

It allows connectivity in some of the most remote parts of the world that would have previously had a compromised and inconsistent signal.

Star Clippers owner and president Mikael Krafft said: ‘The rollout of Starlink on board our ships is a pivotal move for the company in recognising the importance of dependable connectivity whilst at sea.

“Our sailing ships are amongst the most authentic and unique vessels in the world, visiting smaller and remote ports of call, but ensuring our guests and crew can remain in touch with loved ones back home – whilst also enhancing our operational systems on board – is our priority.”
