Anantara to make South America debut in 2025

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has confirmed plans to open a sustainably-focused property in Brazil.

Anantara Mamucabo Bahia Resort will represent the debut of the brand in both Brazil and South America when it opens in 2025.

The new-build property will be located in Baixio, a small fishing village on the coastline of Bahia, a northeastern state. Baixio is known for its clear waters and features one of the largest protected sandbank reserves in Brazil.

Construction of Anantara Mamucabo will begin next year.

When complete, the hotel will offer 116 guest rooms, suites and pool villas, alongside two outdoor swimming pools, a kids’ club, a beach club and watersports area, and a ‘substantial’ sports area, including a tennis court, paddle tennis court, fitness centre and yoga terrace.

The main pool will feature a multi-level ‘waterfall’ design, which will create different ‘environments’ for relaxing.

An Anantara Spa will offer an extensive range of treatments and wellness offerings, with integrated and isolated environments such as a swimming pool, massage rooms, a sauna and a hydrotherapy circuit.

Anantara Mamucabo will feature three restaurants. The hotel’s main restaurant will offer contemporary international and Brazilian cuisine with a view overlooking the grounds.

Inside the beach club, a restaurant and a bar will serve regional cuisine from Bahia.

An Asian restaurant will be located in the central area of the resort and will feature a view of the Mamucabo River.

Dillip Rajakarier, chief executive of Anantara’s parent company Minor Hotels, and group chief executive of Minor International, said: “We are excited to announce the development of this future Anantara in Brazil, which will represent the brand’s debut on the South American continent. It is a part of the world we have been keen to expand Anantara’s footprint into and this exciting project represents the perfect opportunity.”
