Gorilla Forest Camp in Uganda and Baines’ Lodge in Botswana will reopen next year
A&K Travel Group is set to rebuild two of its flagship properties in Africa.
Gorilla Forest Camp in Uganda and Baines’ Lodge in Botswana will both undergo complete refurbishments before reopening in mid-2025.
Gorilla Forest Camp in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest will reopen as Gorilla Forest Lodge with 10 enlarged and refurbished suites, with each featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, expansive veranda-like decks and free-standing baths.
The renovation will also feature a newly expanded spa and a refreshed lounge and dining area with clay-look textured plaster walls and woven banana leaf ceilings.
The lodge rebuild features a range of initiatives to minimise environmental impact including the use of repurposed materials, rainwater collection systems and composting.
Baines’ Lodge in the Okavango Delta meanwhile will reopen with six newly designed suites with private decks, star baths and daybeds.
A&K Travel Group said it was embarking on a “significant development plan” which will see further evolution across its portfolio of camps, lodges and riverboats, with more details to be revealed soon.
The group recently confirmed the development of its first riverboat in Sotuh America. Pure Amazon will launch next year in Peru.
