Vivienne Westwood reveals new uniform for Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic's new red uniform collection, designed by Vivienne Westwood, has been unveiled.
The airline marked its 30th anniversary by partnering with the leading British designer for the uniform rebrand.
The original creations incorporate the sustainable ethos and include polyester yarn made from recycled plastic bottles and a nano finish to extend the garment's life and retain colour.
The newly-designed red jacket is inspired by the 'Bettina' style of the early 90s and is accompanied by a matching pencil skirt.
The hand-drawn wing designs are a recurring theme across all members of the team, while a new addition of bags for ground staff has also been introduced by the Ethical Fashion Initiative in Nairobi in collaboration with the International Trade Centre, United Nations.
Over 7,500 staff, including cabin crew, pilots, Clubhouse staff and Virgin Holidays employees, will receive the new uniform which consists of 22 pieces in total and has been trialled across airports and on board over the past year.
The launch party included entertainment from Blondie and Goldie at Village Underground in Shoreditch.
