Virgin Voyages has appointed Peter Hunt as chief financial officer.

Hunt will join the company with “significant financial and operational experience”, the cruise line said, and has “Virgin acumen”, having previously worked at Virgin America.

When he takes up his role in early December, Hunt will sit on the leadership team alongside Nirmal Saverimuttu, who was promoted to chief executive in September.

“It’s wonderful to be a part of the Virgin family again and I’m thrilled to join the Virgin Voyages team,” said Hunt.

“This brand is truly revolutionising the industry with its award-winning cruise experiences and I look forward to helping the company grow and build on its initial success.”

Saverimuttu said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Peter to the crew and the leadership team as our new chief financial officer.

“We are excited about the impact he will have given his background and experience with Virgin and in other growth based companies.
