Virgin Atlantic introduces 'cutting edge' A330

The first of ten new aircraft made its debut on the Manchester-Orlando route ahead of the airline opening new flights to Las Vegas on Sunday. The A330 is part of an order worth £1.4 billion for Airbus aircraft to be delivered over the next two years.

The aircraft will operate in a three-class configuration carrying 270 passengers upper class, premium economy and economy. The airline’s chief commercial officer Julie Southern said: “After some challenging times for the airline industry it is great news to be expanding again and adding new aircraft to wow our customers.

“Not only does the A330 deliver savings in emissions and fuel consumption, it offers our customers a cutting-edge product which will transform their flying experience." The A330s will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 70
