Tour operator brands Trafalgar, Insight Vacations and Contiki and river cruise line?Uniworld are to resume operations to Egypt.

The Travel Corporation's escorted touring?brands and its cruise line will reintroduce their Egypt programmes for the 2014-2015 season after closely monitoring the situation in the country.

Youth brand Contiki will restart trips from September this year, while Trafalgar and Insight Vacations will have tours on sale for January 2015 onwards and Uniworld river cruises will be offered on The Nile from September 2015 on refurbished ship River Tosca.

Travel Corporation chief executive?Brett Tollman said: "We have been monitoring the destination closely and after extensive consultation with our teams on the ground, and in speaking with our travel partners in each market, we are pleased to confirm a return to Egypt later this year.

"Guest safety is the utmost priority and so we will maintain constant dialogue with colleagues in the region ahead of our planned recommencement dates."

The group said it was already witnessing pent-up demand for Egypt.

"Recognising that travel and tourism have historically represented around 30% of Egypt's gross domestic product, it is so important that we as an industry show our support for this great country," he added.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office relaxed travel restrictions to areas including the Nile Valley,?in November, reopening historic spots such as Luxor and Aswan, followed by a similar change in advice for Cairo and nearby Giza.
