The Lux Collective opens first East Africa property

Lux Resorts and Hotels has made its debut in East Africa with the opening of Lux Marijani in Zanzibar.

The property, located on Pwani Mchangani beach, soft opened last year but officially welcomed its first guests this month.

Like other Lux properties, Lux Marijani has a signature focus on wellness through the Lux Me Spa and fitness centre.

The boutique resort also has a variety of dining options serving “authentic and experimental” cuisine.

The main restaurant, The Beach, is open all day and has an area specially for children, while speciality Levantine restaurant, Samaa, is set to open soon.

Guests can explore the island via curated experiences such as visiting a spice plantation, practicing yoga on a sandbank at low tide or forest bathing – an ancient Japanese method of practicing mindfulness – in the resort’s indigenous forest.

Paul Jones, chief executive of parent company The Lux Collective, which also operates sister brands Salt, Tamassa and Socio, said: “We are privileged and excited to partner with the ZK Venture Company to operate this five-star boutique beach resort, raising its luxury quotient and service to yet another level.

“This marks the start of a meaningful partnership in the region of East Africa where the tourism potential is limitless.

“We are confident that the partnership will elevate our flagship luxury brand Lux as we continue to expand our footprint globally.”

Prices at Lux Marijani start from £280 per night on a bed and breakfast basis.
