Silversea Cruises has unveiled details of the upcoming refurbishment planned for Silver Endeavour, which will see two new suite categories added.

The ship, which is currently completing its inaugural season in Antarctica after being purchased by Silversea last year, will enter the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard in Genova, Italy, on April 3 for an extensive refurbishment.

Once complete, the ship will feature a total of 10 new suites, including six new upper suites on deck eight and four new suites on deck five. Silversea said the move followed “high demand for the ship’s most spacious accommodations”. 

Two Master Suites and four Signature Suites will replace the former helicopter hangar amidships, while four Classic Veranda Suites will replace the medical centre, which will relocate to the space currently occupied by the casino on deck four. 

The Master Suites will be located towards the ship’s aft and offer uninterrupted, 270-degree views from spacious verandas and living areas. Bedrooms will feature king-sized or twin beds, a walk-in closet and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate whirlpool bath. The living room will include a convertible sofa to accommodate a third guest. 

Signature Suites will feature an open living room and dining area, an expansive bedroom with king-sized or twin beds, floor-to-ceiling windows and a walk-in closet. An adjoining bathroom with feature a generously sized walk-in shower and whirlpool bath. The living room will also include a convertible sofa to accommodate a third guest, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass doors that will open out onto a spacious veranda. 

Silversea’s existing Veranda Suites will maintain the traditional layout and features, including a large veranda. 

The removal of the casino on deck four will also create space for four new crew cabins, which will host seven additional crew members, helping the ship’s expedition team to grow to 22. 

The renovation will also include the installation of handcrafted Lalique crystal panels in French restaurant La Dame.

Silversea said Silver Endeavour would emerge from the refit with “an array of enhancements that will evolve the onboard and expedition experiences for guests”.

Once complete, the ship will take two voyages in the British Isles and Iceland, before embarking upon its inaugural Arctic season from June 3, with nine voyages set to include many of the polar region’s most remote destinations, including Pond Inlet, Cape York and Qaanaaq.
