Seaside Finolhu becomes first member of Design Hotels in Maldives

Seaside Finolhu has become the first resort in the Maldives to become a member of Design Hotels.

The globally recognised resource for design-led hotels accepted the property into its portfolio after it met the criteria of "embodying quality, style and holistic hospitality concepts".

The accolade comes as the resort, located in the Baa Atoll region, embarks on a major redesign overseen by London-based design studio Muza Lab.

The new look, due for completion in the second quarter of 2020, aims to embody barefoot luxury by combining contemporary design with a distinct organic edge, using natural raw materials such as ropes, clay and timbers.

Gregor Gerlach, owner and managing partner of hotel operator Seaside Collection, said: “Our vision for Seaside Finolhu is to bring a modern, bright and open sense of feeling, where our guests can enjoy themselves and create special moments.

“We are proud to be recognised internationally as a member of Design Hotels, not to mention being the first and only resort in the Maldives in their portfolio.”
