Report says wellness booming for agents

ir wellness business to grow this year according to a recent survey.
The annual Spafinder Wellness 365 report, which collates answers from about 200 agents from North America and Europe, shows the highest percentage of travel agents in the survey’s eight-year history expecting a rise in bookings.
Chief operating officer John Bevan said: “The survey confirms what we have recognized for several years.
“Growth in wellness travel is outpacing traditional travel as people recognize the importance of healthier options. The hospitality and travel industries need to pay attention to the fact that this is a travel sector that will continue to grow and cannot be ignored.”
Other figures include 80% of the agents saying awareness of the sector is growing significantly, 52% say that just 20% of their wellness sales are spa-focused bookings, and 83% of agents say consumers are willing to pay a premium for wellness travel.
The report also revealed that Asia is the fastest growing area for wellness bookings, with Thailand out in front followed by Bali/Indonesia and India. In the Americas Costa Rica is number one followed by the Caribbean, Nicaragua and Brazil.
And In Europe, Hungary, Croatia, Turkey, Italy and Greece were standouts, and across the Middle East/Africa, the top popularity gainers were Israel, Dubai and Morocco.
The top five brands identified in wellness travel were: Canyon Ranch, Starwood (including Westin, St. Regis and Sheraton), Four Seasons, Hyatt and Six Senses.
