Not Just Travel sees Christmas Day booking surge

Christmas Day saw five times more people book holidays through Not Just Travel (NJT) this year compared to 2021, the homeworking agency has revealed.

Top destinations booked include Spain, Lapland, Turkey, Morocco, Greece and Egypt.

NJT said more than 25% of the bookings were made by new customers, while the majority were completed by repeat customers.

The homeworking agency said it has also seen average bookings values “soar” from £2,179 on Christmas Day last year to £5,348 this year, showing “people spend more on their holidays despite prices remaining relatively static”.

Not Just Travel co-founder Steve Witt said: “We are expecting the peaks period to be our busiest on record and that means the very best holiday deals will sell out fast, availability will disappear at a moment’s notice and you may not get your first choice of holiday at the price you want.

“All our travel consultants agree that the best time to book a holiday is now. If you see the deal that’s right for you, book it straight away.”

He added: “A significant proportion of Christmas Day bookings this year are for Lapland which has soared in popularity over the last few years.

“People know they need to book super early to grab a limited place to this small destinations.
