Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort unveils Greek pop-up restaurant

Moroccan hotel Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort has opened a summer restaurant in partnership with celebrity-loved Greek eatery Mazi.

The pop-up restaurant, named Mazi Garden, launched on May 15 and will run until October. The 6,000sq ft space overlooks a four-mile stretch of beachfront and joins 11 other restaurants at Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort.

Meaning ‘together’ in Greek, Mazi launched in Notting Hill in London in 2012 offering “innovative Greek cooking in a relaxed setting”. The brand opened a second outpost in Abu Dhabi in 2019.

Celebrity fans include Matthew McConaughey, Owen Wilson, Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, Paul McCartney and Orlando Bloom.

Diners can expect signature dishes including feta tempura with lemon marmalade and caper meringue, and modern takes on classics like Greek salad and calamari.

The pop-up restaurant will also serve a selection of Greek wines chosen by the restaurant’s co-owner and founder Adrien Carré.

“We are pleased to offer visitors to Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort a top-level experience across all aspects, and this includes the food within the resort,” said the hotel’s general manager, Jacques Claudel.

“Outside of Greece, Greek food has not reached its full potential and Mazi has pioneered this change since opening, gaining an internationally renowned reputation. Mazagan is a natural fit for a restaurant which focuses on seasonal and fresh produce, thanks to our onsite Kitchen Garden and beachfront spot. We look forward to the restaurant having a full house every night.”

Mazi co-owner and founder Christina Mouratoglou added: “Post-pandemic Morocco is undoubtedly a go-to destination thanks to the consistent sunshine, rich culture and friendly people. Overlooking the stunning African coast is the perfect place to bring people together to enjoy innovative and refined Greek food whilst having fun. We are thrilled to have partnered with the internationally renowned Kerzner group to continue our expansion within the foodie destination of Mazagan”.

Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort is part of Kerzner International, whose brands also include One&Only Resorts, Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal.
