Mandarin Oriental Tokyo completes extensive room renovation

Guestrooms and suites at the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo have been redesigned following a major refurbishment.

All 179 rooms underwent a makeover in a bid to create “new levels of luxury”, the hotel giant said.

Textile designer Reiko Sudo and art director Ryu Kosaka drew on Japan’s rich culture for inspiration, using bespoke furnishings and locally sourced fabrics to enhance the existing ‘woods and water’ interior design theme.

Rooms now take on autumn leaf colours of gold, orange and purple, while patterns featuring springtime wisteria and sakura have been embroidered onto headboards.

Each residence has also been equipped with the latest mod-cons, including an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) which allows content to be streamed from both Apple and Android devices.
