Jumeirah opens first hotel in Saudi Arabia

Jumeirah Group has opened its first hotel in Saudi Arabia in the city of Mecca.

The property is located in the Jabal Omar neighbourhood just a short walk from the Great Mosque of Mecca.

Jumeirah Jabal Omar Makkah houses 507 rooms and suites across two high-rise towers with views over the city and Great Mosque. A further 526 rooms and suites are set to be added across two more towers.

A total of 88 residences sit across the podium connecting the four towers of the property, each featuring terraces to allow guests to join the group prayers at the Great Mosque of Mecca from their accommodation.

For large group bookings, clients can reserve an entire floor which features 14 rooms and suites.

Jumeirah said the hotel had been designed to “reinforce a sense of serenity through thoughtful service” so guests can “reconnect and reflect as they experience a deeply significant life event” visiting the holy city of Mecca.

The hotel offers a Mediterranean restaurant and lobby lounge, with an additional six dining options set to open, including Arabesque, Persian, Middle Eastern, South-east Asian and Indo-Pakistani restaurants, as well as a cafe.

Chief executive of Jumeirah Group, Katerina Giannouka, said: “We are proud to have opened the first Jumeirah hotel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in such a significant location, in partnership with Jabal Omar Development Company.

“Jumeirah Jabal Omar Makkah will deliver the exceptional service that Jumeirah is known for, enabling an enhanced experience for all who are visiting Makkah.”
