Jamaican resort The?Palmyra remains fully operational despite being placed into receivership, according to its?management.

No explanation was given for troubles at the 299-room property in Montego Bay, which opened just eight months ago.

Kenneth Tomlinson,?chief executive?of Business Recovery Services, who has been appointed to oversee the receivership, said that “normal continued operations are a priority” for the resort, which covers 16 acres and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.?

He added that there is no change in management or staff, and that the travel trade should “have confidence” in booking The Palmyra.

A statement said: “The Palmyra, a Solis Resort & Spa has been placed in receivership by its construction lenders, but the ownership group and management wish to assure our travel trade partners that the resort will remain fully operational.”

General manager Lester Scott said: “With the appointment of Mr. Tomlinson, funding will continue for the resort’s operational needs.

“The Palmyra staff takes great pride in the level of customer care and the resort’s luxurious facilities. Our guests will continue to enjoy the excellent service we have offered since opening our doors in December 2010.”
