Intrepid launches trips for independent travellers

Adventure tour operator Intrepid Travel is to introduce trips for independent travellers.

The Melbourne-based company will launch two new product ranges for 2015 catering for solo travellers, couples or small groups.

The?Independent Journeys and Independent Experiences ranges will follow a set itinerary and clients will be hosted by local guides in each town they visit, but travel independently between each destination.

Rather than?selecting from a range?of set departures, clients will be able to choose their own departure date.

The new range will consist of the company's 25 top selling trips , including Turkey, Morocco, India, Vietnam and other trips from the operator's 'comfort' range with three to four star accommodation.

The operator said the trips were designed to appeal to customers who would not normally consider group travel.

James Thornton, managing director of the Intrepid Group, said: "We often speak to travellers who love the idea of?the off-the-beaten-track, responsible, local experiences that Intrepid offers, but just can't handle the idea of travelling on a group trip.

"They may have been scared off group travel by a big bus party-style group tour in their 20s, or they may just want to travel with a partner or friend.

"The new range of independent trips means travellers can save money by booking set itineraries, but still get a truly local experience from our own network of local operators. We're calling it organised independent travel - it's independent travel with so
