Brand also plans to launch a trade platform this year
Greek helicopter operator Hoper is set to expand its offering by growing its fleet to six helicopters and adding six new destinations.
The service, which launched in May, connects the popular tourist destinations of Athens, Santorini and Mykonos with lesser-known, harder-to-reach Greek islands, offering per-seat bookings for €300 one-way.
The fleet currently consists of five helicopters, with an additional aircraft set to join next February.
Currently operating across 12 destinations – including Antiparos, Folegandros, Ios, Kea, Patmos, Sifnos, Spetses, Syros and Tinos – Hoper plans to add new stops next year across mainland Greece, the Peloponnese and additional islands.
Speaking at World Travel Market (WTM) in London, chief executive Dimitris Kossyfas told Aspire: “When adding new destinations, we consider the current connectivity, the luxury hospitality offering on the island and popularity. We’ve seen a great uptick in terms of hotels and resorts on lesser-known islands but, to some extent, the transportation offering has remained the same so travellers still need to get a ferry, which can sometimes take up to eight hours to smaller islands.
“We want to save people’s time, so they don’t lose a day of their holiday travelling to another island.”
Hoper partners with a network of around 50 luxury hotels across its destinations.
The brand also plans to launch a trade platform this year.
Kossyfas added: “Since launching, we have been B2C, but we want to scale the business and offer a smooth process for agents. The platform will allow them to manage all their bookings under one page and organise commission and invoicing at the end of each month, rather than purchasing every ticket individually.”
Since its launch, 55% of Hoper’s passengers have been domestic travellers, with other top source markets including the UK, theUS and France.
Top performing destinations for the operator include Mykonos, Antiparos, Patmos, Sifnos and Tinos.
