Four Seasons reveals most popular travel motivators

Two thirds of travellers are looking to explore a new destination when they travel again according to new research by Four Seasons.

The hotel group polled its 1.1 million Instagram followers as part of its Wandermust series to discover the most popular travel motivators.

Some 66% said they were keen to start crossing off their “must-visit” list after taking a pause due to Covid-19.

Indeed, the majority (67%) said they were seeking long-haul destinations for their next adventure after border closures kept them at home, while 33% said they wanted a holiday without venturing too far, with road trips a popular option.

Some 80% of respondents indicated they are planning a trip for the “simple love of travel”, with the remaining 20% categorising their next trip as an occasion to celebrate something special.

When given the option of relaxing or seeking adventure on their next getaway, nearly three-quarters (69%) said they wanted to “relax, full stop”, while a further 44% said they were looking forward to unwinding at the spa.

Authentic cuisine and unique dining experiences remain a key travel driver, according to Four Seasons, with 56% of respondents eager for a getaway that is “all about food”.

Four Seasons launched its collection of Wandermust experiences in April inspired by its clients most sought-after travel adventures.

Excursions include a private photo safari with a professional wildlife photographer from Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, dinner on the Ponte Vecchio while visiting Four Seasons Hotel Firenze and a Caribbean island getaway at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla.
