Flood-destroyed luxury camp to reopen

Samburu Intrepids in Kenya will reopen in March following?almost total destruction by floods last year.

?

Situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro in Samburu National Reserve, the camp has had to be almost completely rebuilt.

?

All the tents are large, sit on stilts, and have palm-thatched roofs, netted screens and private views of the “wildlife rich riverbank.”

?

There are 11 already built and?17 more are expected to be finished in the next couple of months.

?

Samburu is known for its special five - the Beisa oryx, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and Somali ostrich – animals of the northern hemisphere adapted to living in water-stressed areas.

?

It is also home to lions, leopards, elephants and other big game and an abundance of dryland birds.

?

Samburu is a five-hour drive from Nairobi, past the Equator or an hour’s flight from Nairobi.
