Explore cancels Egypt trips until the autumn
Adventure travel specialist Explore has cancelled all Egyptian tours until the autumn amid continuing unrest across the country.
All departures until October 5 are affected including a number of family trips due to depart this summer
The decision follows changes to Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel advice for Egypt.
The cancelled programme includes five tours, affecting six different departures, in line with advice to avoid all non-essential travel to North Sinai.
The operator is contacting all agents and customers whose bookings have been affected.
Clients will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to transfer to another tour. Families can transfer to destinations including Morocco, Turkey, Croatia, Jordan, Vietnam, India and China.
Explore said it had acted "to guarantee the safety of its customers and to give them as much time as possible to plan an alternative holiday".?
The company is closely monitoring the situation and FCO advice and said it will make a decision on the status of tours departing after October 5 in the coming weeks. The decision will be communicated to agents and customers as soon as possible.
Sales director Carl Burrows said: “We take the advice issued by the FCO very seriously and for that reason, have cancelled all Egyptian tours departing over the next few months.
"The safety of our customers is of the upmost importance and we do not deem it safe to take them to Egypt during these turbulent times."
