Cyclone-battered Daydream Island to re-open in April

Daydream Island Resort will re-open with a “brand new identity” in April following a two-year redevelopment to repair damage from Cyclone Debbie.

The Australian resort suffered significant damage when the category four storm hit Airlie Beach on March 28, 2017.

Construction – costing £49 million – has been underway since February, and the resort will ‘soft launch’ next year, with a new pool area, updated rooms and a new logo.

Jayson Heron, director of sales and marketing at Daydream Island Resort, said the rebrand was an “important step” in the Island’s transformation to a premium holiday destination.

He said: “Daydream Island has undergone a huge journey from the devastation caused in 2017 by Cyclone Debbie and we wanted the new brand to signal the evolution of the island. The new brand gives a nod to Daydream’s heritage whilst also looking to the future.”

Bookings are now being taken with rooms starting from £218 per night. Operators and agents can speak to the team at SLC Representation to add it to their portfolio.
