Crystal Cruises boosts agent commissions

ts commission levels by 2% on all new customer bookings.

The cruise line, which gets 99% of its bookings through the trade, had a 70% repeat guest ratio last year but wants to attract more new customers and has decided to reward agents who help them.

The hike is part of a wider push entitled A Bespoke Campaign, aimed at cruise specialists and agents who don’t currently?sell cruise. It also follows rival operator?Complete Cruise Solution's controversial move to?cut basic commission to 5%.

Crystal Cruise UK sales and marketing director Andy Harmer said: ““It is imperative that we do all that we can to support agents to help them sell Crystal and reward them for their loyalty.?

“Crystal Cruises is hugely supportive of both existing and new agents alike which is reflected by the fact that we don’t encourage direct bookings from consumers.

“We are very keen to foster great agent relationships and that can only happen by going the extra mile to turn what is a great opportunity into sales growth. Our growth will be directly related to our policy of continued innovation, hard work and close relationships.”

“In addition the booking agent will receive £50 by way of thanks.”

Other elements of the campaign include a new business advisor to deal specifically with new to Crystal travel agents.

Harmer added: “Any travel agent wanting to work with Crystal will therefore have a single point of contact in the office who will tailor the support Crystal can offer to their very specific needs.”

Agents new to Crystal will receive a 1% uplift in commission and be guaranteed a place on a ship visit either in the UK or in Europe.

And Harmer also announced a series of Supper Clubs to take place at small venues across the country with selected agents to enjoy a good meal while discussing how Crystal can change for the better.

Crystal Cruises will continue with its “Sell Three, Sail Free” promotion whereby any agent selling three staterooms on any Crystal sailing will receive a free cruise for themselves
