Travel industry event organiser Connections has been named Best Trade Show at the prestigious Eventex Awards.

The awards are held as part of Eventex 2016, a global events showcase which took place this week in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

Connections’ invitation-only events enable senior MICE travel executives, luxury travel buyers and suppliers to gather at five-star locations across the world to build relationships and stimulate ideas for their businesses’ futures.

Judges said the Connections Events team stood out for their performance in each of the criteria: design, crisis management, marketing strategy, innovation, participant engagement and planning to meet objectives.

The other shortlisted shows in the category were Microsoft Future Decoded, by Momentum Worldwide, and Conventa by Toleranca Marketing.

Connections is part of Europe’s leading travel trade media company, Travel Weekly Group. The brand was founded in 2014, with the inaugural Connections Luxury event taking place in Hampshire, England.

Subsequent events have taken place in Portugal, Abu Dhabi and Beijing, with future Connections Luxury and Connections Meetings events taking place in Italy, Spain, Brazil and Thailand.

Micaela Giacobbe, founder of Connections and director of commercial events at Travel Weekly Group, said: “We are delighted that Connections Events has been recognised as an innovative force for building new business relationships.

“We make it our mission to do things differently, so that our delegates leave feeling like they have truly got to know other guests and shared memorable experiences, rather than simply talking over a boardroom table. I am really proud of the events we’ve produced.”
