Belmond’s Caribbean properties, La Samanna in St Martin and Cap Juluca in Anguilla, have reopened for the winter season with several new additions.
Cap Juluca now boasts a new, seafront Peruvian restaurant – the only one of its kind on the island – alongside two new island experiences: a fishing trip to Mandays Bay in the company of a local fisherman and a Volkswagen campervan tour of the island’s beaches with a gourmet picnic lunch.
The resort has also announced a programme of activities for the festive season, including wine-tasting, sunset sailing trips, salt scrub-making classes, an iron-man swim, a choir performance on Christmas Eve and a four-course New Year’s Gala dinner with live entertainment.
They join existing activities including windsurfing, waterskiing, snorkelling, diving and bird-watching with a local conservationist.
Meanwhile on St Martin, La Samanna has announced a new culinary series, La Cave Under The Stars, with international guest chefs and sommeliers visiting throughout the winter season.
The series will premiere on the weekend of November 27-29 with a two-day event organised in partnership with Maison Veuve Cliquot. The weekend will feature a five-course dinner with champagne pairings, a champagne picnic, Veuve Cliquot brunch bar and tasting classes led by an expert from the celebrated champagne house.
A second culinary event will follow on January 28-30, 2022, hosted by acclaimed New York chef David Waltuck, owner of downtown New York restaurant Chanterelle and four-time James Beard Award Winner.
Other additions at the property include a new holistic spa treatment, Energetic Re-Mastery – led by resident wellness expert Christine Caruso – and an exhibition by French photographer François Castelain from December 15, which features as part of the resort’s new artist in residence series, launched in July.
