Avani to seal rooms after cleaning as part of new hygiene measures

Avani Hotels will seal each guest room for 24 hours after cleaning as part of new health and safety measures.

During the sealed period, no one will be able to enter the rooms, including housekeeping staff. 

The brand, which has 32 hotels in 18 countries, has introduced new protocols to help assure guests and staff of their safety. 

Avani had been working with Ecolab prior to the coronavirus breakout and will continue to do so. It said it would also work to ensure its properties adhere to advice provided by the World Health Organisation.

The group – owned by Minor Hotels - is introducing contactless service which will include digital check-in and the launch of a new guest service app. It is also implementing UVC light technology to ensure cleanliness and will sterilise regularly touched items such as key cards. All third-party partners including transport and tour suppliers will also be re-screened to ensure they the standard for Avani’s Trusted Partner Programme.

A dedicated AvaniShield Agent will be appointed who will be responsible for implementing the new protocols in property. 

In a statement, the brand said: “As new science and technology evolves in helping to combat the epidemic, we will keep updating the way we ensure the safety of our guests and team members.”
