Openings due this year include Banyan Tree Macau in China on May 15, Banyan Tree Riverside in Shanghai, Angsana Hangzhou and Angsana Balaclava in Mauritius.

Vice president marketing Luca Deplano said: “We are looking at expanding in Oman, Egypt and Jordan over the next five years.”

The group has recently added beach villas at the Banyan Tree Al Wadi hotel which opened last year.
