Anantara opens second property in Italy

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has opened its second property in Italy.

Anantara Covento di Amalfi Grand Hotel is situated high above the town of Amalfi on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. The property is set in a restored 13th-century cliffside Capuchin convent.

The 800-year-old building underwent a “thoughtful” renovation to preserve historic features including ornate cloisters and an on-site Baroque church complete with a marble altar and Majolica floor.

The hotel’s 52 guest rooms and suites have also been refurbished to preserve original elements.

Anantara has added “elevated” dining concepts and an Anantara Spa, all with panoramic views of the Mediterranean.

Executive chef Claudio Lanuto has introduced a ‘convento’ kitchen concept which uses fresh, seasonal ingredients grown in the convent garden to create a-la-carte monk-inspired dishes and sensory tasting menus. Culinary offerings also include a new al fresco gourmet pizzeria.
