A&K appoints Martin Froggatt to lead DMC operations

Abercrombie & Kent has appointed Martin Froggatt as executive vice president of destination management.

Froggatt, who joins with more than 25 years of experience in the travel industry, will also become a member of the global management board, effective November 9.

The role will see him lead A&K’s DMCs and luxury riverboat and lodges brand Sanctuary Retreats. The brand operates more than 55 offices in more than 30 countries.

He replaces Jonathan White, who joined A&K as managing director for A&K Europe in 2011, rising to board level with responsibility for global DMC operations. During his tenure, he was responsible for opening offices in New Zealand, Brazil, Japan, Rwanda, Spain and, most recently, the USA.

White plans to take a career break and will finish with the business after a two-week handover.

Froggatt has previously held senior positions at Tui, Travelopia and Walt Disney Attractions. Whilst at Travelopia, he managed the education, events and expeditions portfolio, as well as being instrumental in the delivery of several mergers and acquisitions, including the sale of Travelopia into private equity.

Michael Wale, president and chief executive of Abercrombie & Kent, said: “During these incredibly challenging times for the industry, I’m delighted to have Martin join us. As a renowned travel industry executive with a strong people focus, it’s great to have him on our global leadership team who continue to innovate exceptional travel experiences for our clients.”

Froggatt added: “A&K, founded by Geoffrey, one of the icons of our industry is one of those companies that you’ve always wanted to work for – they are the best at what they do.

“Customers book trips, tours and vacations with them and expect the service to be incredible every time they travel, and guess what, it is, this does not happen by accident. It takes time, experience and dedicated teams behind the scenes making sure this happens every day on every trip.

“Having a highly skilled efficient DMC Network and controlled product enables A&K to consistently exceed guest expectations. I’m looking forward to joining the A&K family and working with Michael and the global team.”
