Bespoke adventure specialist Eleven Experience has expanded its global collection of lodges with a new property in Alaska.
Eleven Winterlake Lodge is located between the Alaska Range and Tordrillo Mountains
on the shores of Finger Lake, just under 200 miles northwest of the city of Anchorage.
The property is accessible only by float plane in the summer and by ski plane in the winter.
Built by the Branham brothers as a hunting lodge in the 1930s, Eleven Winterlake Lodge was taken over in 1994 by the Dixon family, who adding six lakeside cabins, a bar, a wellness suite and a kitchen.
The six cabins include the original log cabin, which features three bedrooms and bathrooms. The rest feature one or two bedrooms.
Meals take place in the main lodge, where dishes celebrate local ingredients such as reindeer sausage, wild salmon and king crab.
Eleven will offer guests bespoke experiences including heli excursions, glacier trekking, hiking, white-water rafting and fishing for five species of Pacific Salmon.
Skiing will be available in the winter. For the 2024 season, Eleven will offer backcountry skiing with “expansive” heli-access, expert guides and access to the Tordrillo Mountains in the Alaska Range.
The lodge’s previous owners prohibited all hunting operations in the 1990s so guests can also spot native wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, moose, caribou and Dall sheep.
Eleven Winterlake Lodge will open for the summer season on June 1 until September 30.
The property will then undergo a refurbishment to “reflect Eleven’s distinct style and elevated comforts”.
The property is the twelfth lodge to join the brand’s portfolio, joining properties in Iceland, Patagonia, France, the Bahamas and Colorado.
Rates at Winterlake Lodge start from $8,100 per person for a minimum stay of three nights. Prices include pre-arrival planning with a dedicated experience team, two heli-excursions, guided activities, breakfast, lunch, après and dinner, house beer and wine, and daily yoga classes.
