A&K Travel Group opens own Costa Rica DMC

Abercrombie & Kent has opened its own Destination Management Company (DMC) in Costa Rica.

The luxury operator aims to deliver the same level of service it offers globally by establishing its own DMC rather than via a third party used previously in the Central American country.

By setting up its own office, the company hires and trains local staff, purchasing equipment and building the infrastructure needed to support sustainable tourism.

A&K claims to run the world’s largest network of luxury DMCs, with over 55 offices in more than 30 countries.

They provide job opportunities to a workforce of more than 2,500 people in the countries where they operate, along with training in subjects such as computers, accounting, first aid, driver training, mechanics, history, geography, natural resources, and conservation.

A&K Travel Group chief destination officer Martin Froggatt said: “Costa Rica consistently ranks as a top seller among our Central American destinations; it made perfect sense to set up operations here.

“Now, we’re ready and enthusiastic to design outstanding travel experiences that deeply connect visitors to the distinct features of this remarkable destination.”
