Wendy Wu Tours has launched a food-focused itinerary with the help of acclaimed Chinese chef Ching He Huang.

The 11-day A Taste of China trip, which will first depart on May next year, places emphasis on how culture, tradition and philosophy have helped shape the country’s cuisine.?

It combines cookery classes, demos, restaurants and local food markets with some of China’s most iconic sights.

Guests will start in Beijing visiting sites such as Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum and the beautiful Forbidden City before a Beijing style cookery class to recreate three local dishes and get to grips with local cookery techniques.

This mix continues throughout with noodle-making demonstrations, talks about the making of the world-famous Peking duck dish (and a chance to eat it) and a dumplings masterclass.

Other spots on the tour include Xian, Chengdu, Huanlongxi and Shanghai.

The first tour also includes a three night Hong Kong extension (taking the tour to fourteen days), focusing on Hong Kong’s culinary areas.
It costs from £4,990 per person on a fully-inclusive basis.
