The co-founder of Mr & Mrs Smith has been chosen to be the keynote speaker at the CLIA UK & Ireland Luxury Expo.

James Lohan has developed Mr & Mrs Smith, a collection of stylish and individual boutique hotels around the world, into a multi-faced travel provider with an online booking service, 24-hour in-house reservations team and a three-tiered membership programme which includes a full travel and lifestyle concierge service.

He has opened offices in New York and Melbourne and has more than 480,000 members worldwide.

CLIA UK & Ireland director Andy Harmer said: “I’m delighted that James will be sharing his experiences with more than 150 delegates at this year’s Luxury Expo.?

There are many similarities within the boutique hotel sector and luxury cruising which last year saw a 10 per cent increase in sales, with summer ultra-luxury cruises increasing by a striking 30 per cent.”

The Expo will take place in Dover on 2 and 3 September 2-3 when travel agents will also have the opportunity to visit three cruise ships – Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity and Seabourn Sojourn – together with attending a trade fair and enjoying a dinner at Canterbury Lodge, within the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral.

A first for delegates will also be the opportunity to ‘virtually’ visit another luxury cruise ship – Regent Seven Seas’ Voyager which will be docked in Southampton. Agents will be able to visit the ship in an innovative ‘virtually live’ way.

Other speakers include Thomas Mazloum of Crystal Cruises, Andrew Magowan from Seadream and Aspire editor? Rupert Murray.
