New Seabourn expedition ship to offer ‘safaris at sea’

‘Safaris at sea’ itineraries for summer and autumn 2022 have been released for Seabourn’s first purpose-built expedition ship.

Seabourn Venture will sail the Arctic, Caribbean, and Central and South America between early May and late October next year.

The schedule incudes 16 cruises ranging from 10- to 15-days in duration. Selected voyages can be combined to create sailings of up to 29 days.

The first of the line’s two new Polar class vessels will feature 132 suites with facilities including two custom-built submarines, kayaks and 24 Zodiac boats that can accommodation all passengers at once.

Seabourn Venture’s Arctic summer season is due to start on May 4, 2022 with a series of eight Arctic Svalbard summer cruises between Tromso and Longyearbyen.

The ship will spend the remainder of summer through to September 2022 in the Arctic running on five 11- to 15-day voyages covering Svalbard, the North Cape and other locations in Norway, as well as Iceland, Greenland, and the Canadian Arctic archipelago in Nunavut.

The vessel will then sail south the following month covering Bermuda, the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile.

The season will finish with a sailing from Callao (Lima), Peru, on October 26, arriving 12 days later in San Antonio, Chile.

Seabourn president Josh Leibowitz said: “With new routes winding from the Arctic to the coast of Chile, our expedition itineraries in 2022 will offer a ‘safari at sea’ where travellers experience the diversity of nature and wildlife on either side of the equator together with Seabourn.

“Seabourn Venture will offer the perfect balance of immersive, compelling adventures combined with our unrivalled luxury service to provide a truly breathtaking experience.”
