Rosewood's relief fund to support staff and communities

Rosewood Hotel Group has launched a relief initiative to support its staff and local communities affected by coronavirus.

The luxury hotel chain has created Rosewood Raise, a relief fund for communities in which the group operates.

The initiative includes donating hotel rooms and meal preparation and suppliers for key workers on the frontline on the fight against the virus.

Managed by the Emergency Assistance Foundation, a charity designed to operate multiple employer sponsored schemes and employee hardship funds, the Rosewood Raise Relief Fund aims to help staff in whose jobs were affected through the pandemic.

Since setting up two weeks ago, the fund has received initial pledges of close to $2 million from Rosewood’s corporate executives and associates, including salary contributions and a commitment from the company to match all employees cash contributions to the fund.

At Rosewood London, managing director Michael Bonsor has launched the Hospitality4Heroes Social Challenge with the aim of raising £10,000 to support the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Appeal. Meanwhile, head chef of the hotel’s Holborn Dining Room, Calum Franklin, and his team have been busy cooking meals for NHS staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Both Rosewood Bangkok and Rosewood Miramar Beach have created Rosewood on the Move – a complimentary food delivery service for frontline workers in each respective region. Rosewood Miramar Beach has already served more than 1,500 meals to key workers in Santa Barbara, California, assisting police officers, firefighters, rubbish collectors and shop staff.

Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, said: “I have always believed that people are the beating heart of the hospitality industry. Through Rosewood Raise, we wish to stand in solidarity and with gratitude for our associates, and in support of the local communities that are so deeply affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Our hope is that through this initiative we can provide assistance to our associates and communities who are facing serious hardship and let them know their Rosewood family is here to support them through this unprecedented time.”
