Rosewood opens first property in Austria

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts unveiled its first property in Austria on August 1.

The property is located in Vienna on one of the city's most famous squares, Petersplatz, close to the pedestrian streets of Graben, Kohlmarkt and Tuchlauben and many cultural and historical sites.

Rosewood Vienna marks the group’s first hotel in a German speaking market and its fifth property in Europe, joining Rosewood London, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris and Rosewood Villa Magna in Madrid.

Rosewood said its latest property pays homage to the Austrian capital’s imperial history while offering a “modern approach” to luxury hospitality.

Rosewood Vienna features 71 guestrooms and 28 suites. The presidential suite, Hoffmann House, is named after the Viennese modernist architect and designer and features a master bedroom, living room, entertainment area, kitchen and dining room with seating for eight people, and a French balcony.

Culinary options include signature brasserie Neue Hoheit, which features classical Austrian millwork, views of St. Peter’s Church and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and a menu of European dishes and Austrian classics based on seasonal ingredients.

The Garden Room and Secret Garden offer private indoor and outdoor dining. There’s also a rooftop cocktail bar on the seventh floor inspired by a classic speakeasy.

In the hotel’s residential-style lobby space, guests will find Salon Aurelie which offers a modern Viennese coffee house experience serving loight bites and beverages.

Rosewood Vienna is the first Rosewood property outside of Asia to feature Asaya Spa. The space extends over the fifth and sixth floors and offers four treatment rooms, a social suite, relaxation area, sauna, steam bath and experience shower, alongside a range of therapies, spa treatments and wellness programmes with Vietnamese influences.

Social events and business meetings are catered to through Rosewood Vienna’s Pavilion on the first floor, which can accommodate up to 110 people in four rooms.

The hotel’s Discover My Vienna programme allows guests to explore the city through selected cultural activities curated and guided by local experts. Excursions include shopping for Augarten porcelain, designing tailormade shoes at Scheer boutique and authentic culinary experiences at Zur Herknerin, a traditional Austrian tavern.

“The opening of Rosewood Vienna offers today's ultra-luxury travellers a new kind of Viennese lifestyle, one that is imbued with the rich history of the destination yet the modern and cosmopolitan outlook befitting this dynamic European capital,” said Rosewood Vienna managing director Alexander Lahmer.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to a distinctive hospitality experience in one of the world's greatest cities.”
