Premier Holidays cites trade support for May bookings rise
Bookings were up 17% to Thailand over the same month last year, giving a clear indication that clients are keen to invest in long haul, high-end holidays, according to the independent operator.
The number of high value bookings for US holidays have doubled over the January to April 2011 period with top performers being Hawaii, California and New York.
The company has also seen a shift in booking patterns compared to last year with 34% of consumers taking holidays to the US booking four to six months in advance compared to 55% last year.
Managing director Susan Papworth, describing the figures as “encouraging”, said: "We attribute a lot of this growth to the rise in special offers from high-end luxury hotels, free nights and some reduced rates throughout the year.
“Aggressive air fares, particularly with regard to business-class deals - has also encouraged passengers.
"We have seen a huge increase in business from the independent agents - this sector is currently up 16% on last year.
A recent survey from Advantage Travel Centres found 60% of Premier Holidays reservations staff being rated as excellent. 82% of those surveyed described the window posters, offers and weekly e-newsletter which the operator distributes as being extremely useful.
Additional feedback from Advantage highlights good service, well-presented quotes and competitive prices provided by the operator.
"Our experienced staff are always on hand to discuss any itinerary or destination with agents. The importance of our relationship with travel agents is vital and we would like to thank all our trade staff for their continued support,”
