Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa opens following €30 million renovation

Marriott Hotels has made its debut in Malta with the opening of Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa in Balluta Bay.

The 301-room hotel – located in the town of St Julian’s, close to the capital of Valletta – underwent a €30 million, 15-month renovation before opening to the public last week.

The property now features 25 club rooms, 29 suites and a 150 square-metre presidential suite with views over Balluta Bay, as well as renovated indoor and outdoor pools, a fully equipped spa and fitness centre, conference and banqueting facilities, five restaurants and three bars.

Guests staying in the property’s club rooms and suites also have access to the M Club Lounge – a 24/7 executive lounge located on the top floor of the hotel with outdoor terraces, complimentary hot breakfast, premium drinks and snacks, Wi-Fi and printing for business travellers.

Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa general manager Alex Incorvaja said he was happy to see the hotel re-position itself as one of the leading five-star hotels on the islands, and one of Malta’s newest tourism projects.

“By being part of Marriott International’s leading global travel loyalty program Bonvoy, the hotel, and Malta, will be exposed on an incredible worldwide platform, accessible to over 130 million members,” he said.

John Licence, vice president of premium and select brands for Europe, added: “At Marriott Hotels, we strive to create spaces where our guests can feel their most inspired.

“The Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa more than lives up to that promise, combining our contemporary design aesthetic with intuitive service and fantastic facilities to give guests the ultimate space to relax and recharge.”
