Ikos Resort introduces green initiative

Ikos Resorts has launched a sustainability programme as it looks to boast its properties green credentials.

The brand has launched Ikos Green which aims to ensure operations at each hotel are more sustainable, but also looks to develop eco-leaning programme from youngsters who use the kid’s club facilities.

Ikos says it also has a commitment to supporting local products, the environment and local communities beyond the hotel grounds.

It aims to reduce water and energy consumption by a 5%, to further reduce the use of plastic and increase recycling levels. Last year alone the group recycled more than 400 tonnes of materials and implemented a zero-waste initiative at Ikos Dassia in Corfu, converting more than 246 tonnes of organic waste through a wastewater treatment facility.

The group reiterated that Corporate Social Responsibility had always been important and said donations it has made to a local hospital have helped more than 6,350 children to date. Ikos also donated off-road vehicle aids to the coastguard in Syrian refugee search and rescue operations.
