IHG introduces cleanliness pledge

The parent company of Six Senses, Intercontinental Hotels and Kimpton Hotels has introduced a Clean Promise aiming to give guests confidence to travel again.

The pledge from IHG comes as the group announced it was introducing new cleaning protocols and service standards.

IHG said its hotels are already deep cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectants but new measures will include reducing contact at check-in and touchless transactions. Front desk screens and sanitiser stations will also be introduced as well as sanitised key cards and paperless check-out.

Each hotel will appoint a ‘clean champion’ to ensure cleanliness at hotels is maintained.

Keith Barr, chief executive officer at IHG, said: “The future of travel may look different, but a safe, secure stay is fundamental to deliver true hospitality – and that will never change.

“By combining IHG’s world-class knowledge and processes, with cutting-edge expertise from Cleveland ClinicEcolab and Diversey, we can reassure guests and colleagues that we’re focused on protecting their health and wellbeing.

“This includes looking at where technology can make a difference, deploying enhanced, highly-visible and more frequent cleaning measures, and different approaches to food and beverage, all underpinned by our new IHG Clean Promise.”
