EasyJet unveils new routes for 2013
EasyJet has followed on the heels of rival Ryanair in introducing a raft of new routes for 2013.
A total of 10 new services have been added from Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and Southend.
The move follows Ryanair announcing expansion with two routes from East Midlands, five from Manchester and two from Liverpool.
EasyJet’s route expansion means that more than 316,000 seats have been added to the airline’s 2013 summer schedule which now covers a total of 340 routes from the UK.
The Greek city of Kalamata is added to previously announced Moscow flights from Gatwick as well as Santiago in Spain. Tickets for the Moscow flights – EasyJet’s 100th route from Gatwick - are due to go on sale in the next few weeks while the others are available to book.
One-way fares to Moscow start at £67, to Kalamata from £34.99 and £32.99 to Santiago.
Year-round flights from Stansted to Sharm el Sheikh, Marrakech and Sofia start at £86.99 and £30.99 respectively.
New summer routes from Luton include Mykonos and Olbia in Sardina.
As previously announced, Berlin and Krakow in Poland will be served year-round from Southend with fares starting £22.99.
UK director Paul Simmons said: “Moscow and Kalamata are particularly exciting announcements as they are not currently part of our network.
“EasyJet has continued to attract a growing number of business passengers which currently total more than nine million annually.
“Destinations like Moscow from London Gatwick and Berlin from London Southend will further bolster our standing with them and ensure that they stay well connected to the key business centres in Europe.
Ryanair announced earlier in the week new flights from Manchester to Corfu, Krakow, Lanzarote, Paphos and Trapani; Marseille and Menorca from East Midlands and Lubin and Zadar from Liverpool in addition to increasing capacity on existing routes fo
